The ‘Ticket to Write’ Festival comes to Liverpool’s Unity Theatre on 23rd and 24th September, featuring two new plays written about The Beatles.
Jamie Gaskin, festival director and member of the Liverpool playwrights dreamt up the ‘Ticket to Write’ contest after hearing how many plays were being written about the Fab Four.
‘Drums Along the Mersey’ takes an affectionate look at the role of 5th Beatle Pete Best’s (pictured above) mother Mona as the Godmother of Merseybeat and is written by Peter Harrison.
The second play, ‘Shake It Up Baby’ is a powerful yet moving story of a passionate Beatles-fan who gets more than she bargained for when seeks romance on the internet, written by Suzan Holder.
