George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Richy Starkey – students of Transcendental Meditation for six months – journeyed to northern India in February 1968 to join a teacher-training course under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
So continued – and then concluded – a scene in the Beatles’ history as curious and fascinating now as it was then, the source of more myths and misunderstanding than any other.
In this rare public talk, leading Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn shares some research to open up an informed, balanced and surprising view of what really happened fifty years ago when four young seekers from Liverpool went to the foothills of the Himalayas.
Mark Lewisohn is the author of Tune In, the acclaimed first volume in his biographical history trilogy The Beatles: All These Years.
This event will take place in the Fab4 Cafe at The Beatles Story, Albert Dock on Thursday 27nd September, 8pm – 10pm, as part of the 'Beatles in India' events programme.
Tickets are £10 and can be purchased online in advance here.
