- Review The Beatles Story
The world's most valuable pool table! Unless you know better...
Perfectly preserved and rarely displayed, Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis Tennessee holds in its archives what very well could well be the most valuable pool table in the world - owned by The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll Elvis Presley and used by Elvis and a Beatle!
The priceless vintage table will now play a central role in the new Elvis & Us exhibition to be launched in the Liverpool, UK on October 4th.
The date is August 27th 1965. The scene is Elvis’ Bel Air home in California. The occasion - The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll has invited the touring Fab Four to his west coast estate to ‘hang out.’ Eyewitnesses to the occasion recall a rather stilted start to the meeting of two of the world’s most iconic artists. Stilted until the King pulled out a bass guitar. With no drums available for Ringo to join in the music he and members of Elvis' entourage amused themselves with a game on this very same table.
The Beatles Story would like to hear from anybody who believes they know of a more valuable pool table. Contact info@beatlesstory.com.
October 4th will see the launch of Elvis & Us at the world-famous Beatles Story at Liverpool’s Pier Head. The exhibition will explore the influence that The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll had on The Fab Four as well as documenting their one famed meeting in 1965.
Five pool moments to remember - with pool tables that could compete for the title:
• Ringo shoots pool at Elvis’s Bel Air home (1965)
• Paul Newman gets fast and loose in The Hustler (1961)
• Robert DeNiro makes up for his sins Martin Scorsese’s Mean Streets (1973)
• Al Pacino sets up the ultimate trick shot in Carlito’s Way (1993)
• Johnny Cash in The Baron and The Kid (1984)
Elvis' pool table is unique, real and arriving shortly for public view in Liverpool.
The Elvis and Us multimedia exhibition will include rare and exclusive artefacts from both the Beatles Story and Graceland archives, many of which have never before been exhibited publicly. This unique first-of-its-kind exhibition will allow visitors to experience the power of both Elvis and The Beatles along with their explosive impact on music and popular culture. From hit albums that still top the charts to movies, books, and plays, both Elvis and The Beatles are celebrated around the world. Both even have Cirque du Soleil® shows in Las Vegas: Viva ELVIS™ at ARIA Resort and Casino and The Beatles’™ LOVE™ at The Mirage.
Jerry Goldman, MD of Beatles Story comments:
“Elvis’ pool table is just one of the many unique artefacts that will be making its way to Liverpool as part of the Elvis & Us exhibition. We believe this is the most valuable pool table in the world and challenge anyone to tell us otherwise!”
