Both The Beatles Story and The Beatles' music are helping students learn English as a second language
A study by ‘Kaplan International Colleges’ has found that ESL teachers play The Beatles’ music to their students to help them learn and study English as a second language.
Kaplan discovered that The Beatles were the most popular band used by ESL teachers, with 40% stating that they used the songs of The Beatles such as ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Love Me Do’ and ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ during lessons.
Here at The Beatles Story, we have students visiting from all over Europe every day. The groups come to Liverpool to not only practise their English but to also soak up the Liverpool culture and lifestlye. Students visiting The Beatles Story can explore the familiar story of The Beatles at their own pace with their very own audio guide and although our 'Living History' audio guide is available in 10 different languages, we are seeing an increasing number of international students choosing our 'Family Friendly' English audio guide to navigate the exhibition.
The Liverpool School of English are regular visitors to The Beatles Story and bring foreign students from across the globe.
"The main reason we bring our foreign students to the Beatles Story is because it's a really fun and helpful way for our students to learn English and they love Liverpool and The Beatles." (Berverley Marshall, Liverpool School of English).
From the moment you enter The Beatles Story you're transported on an incredible journey and see how four young lads from Liverpool were propelled to the dizzy heights of fame and fortune from their humble childhood beginnings.
James McCartney, Paul McCartney’s son said when speaking about the study "What a great way to learn any language , by learning through music. Music is a universal language that can bridge the traditional language barrier, and the music of The Beatles has always been a bridge of love and communication. I think this is great."
