Young Liverpool designer tells us how 'Elvis and Us' inspired him
Both The Beatles and Elvis are widely regarded as the most inspiring artists to have graced this planet, so it’s not surprising that The Beatles Story’s ‘Elvis and Us’ exhibition has been inspiring young local talent.
The majority of people who take direct influence from artists such as Elvis Presley are themselves musicians but ‘Peter Gill’, a young fashion designer from Liverpool has been taking direct influence from The King’s sense of style. Peter is a fashion student at Liverpool John Moores University and he has based his degree collection on Elvis Presley after visiting our Elvis and Us and being “inspired”.
Due to its phenomenal success and reviews, it was recently announced that our Elvis and Us exhibition would be extended an extra year until October 2014.
When asked “which pieces of the exhibition inspired him most”, Peter answered “The items in the exhibition which I liked the most were a black and white pair of Elvis's shoes and the heavily embellished jumpsuit.”
Peter’s degree collection is available to view on his ‘ISSUU page’.
