James Burton returns to Merseyside to say "Aloha"

James Burton, one of the world’s greatest guitarists who has played with Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lewis and Elvis Costello to name but a few, will be joined on stage by friends and fellow musicians in a Rock 'n' Roll tribute to his musical life entitled 'James Burton's Aloha', on the 40th Anniversary year of ‘Aloha from Hawaii’.

‘Aloha from Hawaii’ is concert that was headlined by Elvis Presley and was broadcast live via satellite on January 14, 1973. The concert took place at the ‘Honolulu International Center’ and was aired in over 40 countries across Asia and Europe.

James Burton was playing lead guitar in Elvis’ band during the show which was viewed by an estimated 1 billion people and the album went on to become 6x platinum in the US. James visited our ‘Elvis and Us’ exhibition in 2012 and had nothing but praise for the exhibition, he said “It’s put together quite nicely and did bring back some memories.”

Aloha starts on Friday the 19th of July at the Floral Pavilion, New Brighton.

Here is the schedule for the three day event:

Friday, 19th July (Floral Pavilion):
Joining James Burton on stage will be 'Suzi Quatro', 'Eric Faulkner', 'Liverpool Express', 'Chris Clayton', 'Tony Davis' and 'Count John McCormack', 'Dave Sharp', 'The Passionettes' and 'Susan Hedges'.

Saturday, 20th July (Floral Pavilion):
For this second evening of tribute to the legendary guitarist, James will be joined by a strong 'Best of Merseyside'.
