Last chance to see 'Chagall: Modern Master' exhibition at Tate Liverpool
Visitors are urged to see Tate Liverpool’s 'Chagall: Modern Master' before the exhibition closes on Sunday, 6th October, 2013.
Chagall: Modern Master is the first major exhibition of Marc Chagall’s (1887-1985) work in the UK for over fifteen years and reveals a radically different artist to the one often presented in art history.
Since it opened on the 8th of June visitors from around the globe have visited the exhibition to see the work of the Russian painter, one of the best known and most loved artists of the last century. From Belgium to Brazil people have travelled to the Liverpool Waterfront gallery and been keen to leave positive comments, with many describing it as a ‘must see exhibition’ and one young visitor commenting: "…the pictures were wonderful and weird. But not in a bad way. And I think out of all the exhibitions that one was the best. ”
The exhibition showcases Chagall as a passionate visionary and pioneer of the avant-garde, who combined his own response to the art movements of the day with an open display of affection for his native Russia and Hasidic Jewish heritage. Chagall: Modern Master is a rare opportunity to see a substantial body of work that demonstrates the depth and diversity of Chagall’s art as it matured during the pivotal years of 1911-1922.
Francesco Manacorda, Artistic Director, Tate Liverpool commented: “It’s very rare to see these murals outside Moscow and unlikely they will ever tour again, due to their fragility. They embody the spirit of everything about this exhibition and we’re very excited that they are in the North West for people to see. We’re delighted with how well received the exhibition has been by the public and with less than four weeks left before it closes I’d encourage anyone that hasn’t seen the exhibition to do so.”
