The GRAMMY Museum to partner with the Beatles Story for a new exhibition
We can exclusively reveal today that we will partner with The GRAMMY Museum in L.A. to debut a new exhibition that will be arriving at the Beatles Story in October 2014.
The GRAMMY Museum exhibition - The British Invasion: How 1960s beat groups conquered America - will feature a selection of artefacts from musical influencers, including the legendary folk-rock musician, Donovan and former Beatle, Ringo Starr.
It will include several sections: ‘Roots and influences of The GRAMMY Awards’, ‘The 1964 music invasion: The Mersey sound’, ‘The sound of London and taking America by storm’. There will also be a selection of interviews with GRAMMY Award-winning artists.
Martin King, Director of the Beatles Story said: “We feel extremely privileged to be working with The GRAMMY Museum to curate this exciting exhibition at the Beatles Story focussing on how 1960s British beat groups conquered America. We welcome visitors from all over the world on a regular basis and believe that this exhibition will really add to what we already have on offer in Liverpool."
“Our Pier Head site currently houses an Elvis and Us exhibition, co-curated with Graceland and this summer will be the last chance to view this. We will be sad to see Elvis leave the building but the exhibition has had a great run and has been running longer than planned, due to its popularity.”
Bob Santelli, Executive Director at The GRAMMY Museum, added: "We are very excited to partner with the Beatles Story to create The British Invasion: How 1960s Beat Groups Conquered America exhibition.
"From radio playlists to merchandising to touring, we dug deep to uncover the American Blues roots and influencers at the heart of this invasion, exploring the impact that musicians such as The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, Cilla Black, The Animals and Gerry and the Pacemakers, among others, had on the American popular music scene of the 1960s.”
The British Invasion: How 1960s beat groups conquered America will officially open on 16th October 2014
