Special guests visit Elvis and Us at the Beatles Story
Liverpool has been playing host to a line-up of celebrities who were keen to see our Elvis and Us exhibition before judging at Europe’s Tribute to Elvis in Blackpool Winter Gardens this weekend.
Cynthia Pepper who co-starred with Elvis Presley in the movie Kissin’ Cousins, Sam Thompson, body guard and close friend of Elvis and Charles Stone, Elvis Presley’s tour producer.
The three guests who all knew Elvis well will be judging at the event, which is officially sanctioned by Elvis Presley Enterprises, along with Suzi Quatro. Walking around the exhibition Sam, Cynthia and Charles reminisced about their memories of Elvis.
Sam Thompson said: “The thing I cherish the most are the quiet times, the times that we would sit upstairs and talk all night long, the times, when he really wasn’t Elvis Presley the icon, or the rock and roll singer, he wasn’t that person that he felt like he had to be, for the adoring fans, he was just Elvis Presley. I miss that guy.”
The Elvis and Us exhibition, which has been part of the Beatles Story’s Pier Head venue since 2011 and has proved very popular with the locals and tourists, will leave the building in August 2014.
Based in the state-of-the-art Pier Head site, Elvis and Us explores how the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll inspired The Beatles. Co-curated by Graceland and the Beatles Story, this stunning exhibition features dozens of rare and exclusive artefacts, many of which have never been publically displayed before.
The Beatles Story are happy to announce that guests can buy discounted tickets for Elvis and Us at just £5.00 per person (normally £6.00) as well as receiving a free souvenir guide. This offer is available for online and on the door admissions.
