George, Eric and Me: New exhibition opens

A UK exclusive photographic exhibition from Pattie Boyd, former wife of music legends George Harrison and Eric Clapton, has opened today at The Beatles Story, Pier Head.

The exhibition, which features 57 original images will be open to the public for six months, until Autumn 2016.

The former supermodel, who was the inspiration for hit songs “Layla” and “Wonderful Tonight” has selected the intimate portraits from her personal archives and, through Pattie’s lens, they provide an insight into her life with two musical icons.

‘George, Eric and Me’ is the first time this collection of Pattie’s images has been on display in the UK. The exhibition incorporates images taken during her time with both George and Eric and feature the musicians’ friends and collaborators including George Harrison’s fellow Beatles band members as well as images of the Rolling Stone’s Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood.

The Beatles Story acknowledges the creative contribution of Rockheim, the national museum of popular music located in Trondheim Norway.

Pattie Boyd said: “I’m delighted that my images are now on display at The Beatles Story. Whilst I unfortunately can’t be there in person today, I am looking forward to visiting the attraction soon to enjoy the exhibition.

“The portraits will be on display until Autumn and I’m excited to be able to share them with the visitors to The Beatles Story over the coming months.

“The exhibition is a glimpse into my life during that period and it will be wonderful to see people’s reaction to the collection of images I’ve selected for display.”

The photographer and former model was married to George Harrison, from 1966 to 1977, and Eric Clapton from 1979 to 1989.

Pattie Boyd has unfortunately injured her hip and elbow in an accident while out walking her dog.

Martin King of The Beatles Story said: “We are thrilled to launch this exhibition today at The Beatles Story and that Pattie has chosen the attraction to house this collection of images.

“The images on display are truly beautiful snap shots of Pattie’s life with two of the greatest musicians of all time. Through Pattie’s lens we are able to see a rare glimpse into unguarded moments and it is a pleasure to be able to share these images with music fans.

“Unfortunately, Pattie has been unable to join us today and we wish her a very speedy recovery so that she is able to come and celebrate the launch of the exhibition with us soon.”

The exhibition, which is being hosted in association with KT Promotions, is now open at The Beatles Story, Pier Head.
