The annual International Beatleweek Festival returns to Liverpool on 21st August – 27th August and organisers Cavern City Tours have put together an amazing line-up for attendees to enjoy.
This year’s event will celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ Abbey Road album, the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ Rooftop Concert and the 60 years since the opening of the Casbah Coffee Club. Special guests include John Lennon’s sister, Julia Baird, drummer Alan White, record producer Jack Douglas, actor Mark McGann and musician Mark Hudson.
The world’s biggest and best Beatles festival features 70 bands from over 20 countries, with The Fab Four, Pepperland, The Overtures and Pure McCartney making headline appearances. It’s scheduled to take place at numerous venues around the city including the Cavern Club on Mathew Street, the Adelphi Hotel, the Eden Rooftop at Shankly Hotel, Grand Central Hall, the Philharmonic Hall and Alma De Cuba, and is going to be a must see for any Beatles fan!
For Beatlemaniacs travelling to Liverpool, The Beatles Story is a must-see attraction, its latest exhibits include never-before-seen images of John and Yoko’s famous ‘Bed-In For Peace’ and ‘The People’s Beatles’ – a photography exhibition which tells the story of The Beatles’ rise to fame using images taken exclusively by fans.
In Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, on the wall to Cain’s Brewery Village, fans will also find a life-sized Abbey Road street mural created by local artist Paul Curtis, where they can recreate the famous album cover artwork in celebration of the album’s 50th birthday later in the year.
The Fab4 Cafes at the Albert Dock and Pier Head will be open throughout the week serving hot and cold beverages, alcoholic drinks, snacks and Beatles-themed cakes and pastries. Beatles fans can catch a special edition of ‘Beatlebox’ in the Fab4 Cafe, Albert Dock on Sunday 25th August, 2:30pm until 4:30pm and are encouraged to get involved by requesting their favourite Beatles and solo Beatles songs. The Fab4 Stores offer the largest collections of officially licensed Beatles merchandise and souvenirs in the UK so be sure to pay them a visit!
