The GRAMMY Museum team arrive in Liverpool to prepare the city for a world first

The GRAMMY Museum team arrive in Liverpool to prepare the city for a world first

The GRAMMY Museum team in Los Angeles have sent their Executive Director to Liverpool this week. Robert Santelli is visiting the city to discuss and plan The GRAMMY Museum exhibition with the Beatles Story.

The British Invasion: How 1960s beat groups conquered America, which is being staged at the Beatles Story, Pier Head opens in October and will include never seen before items from the world of music.

The exhibit will feature artefacts, both British and American, taken from the personal collections of Donovan, Lead Belly, The Hollies, The Beach Boys, Chad & Jeremy, Peter & Gordon, and numerous other artists.

In addition, the exhibit will feature never-before seen photos of The Rolling Stones from their first tour of the USA, a replica of an American music fan's bedroom circa 1964, music interactives, and interviews with everyone from Ringo Starr and Ozzy Osbourne, to Petula Clark, Eric Burdon, and Graham Nash.

Martin King, Director of the Beatles Story, said:

“It is fantastic that Robert has come to Liverpool to discuss this fantastic exhibition and I am delighted that The GRAMMY Museum has chosen the Beatles Story to exhibit in. It is great to see the amazing artefacts coming together and making final plans for the exhibition in the Beatles Story, Pier Head."

Robert Santelli, Executive Director of the Grammy Museum, said:

"The British Invasion of America dramatically changed the course of music in the 1960s. The impact that British music had on popular culture and music in the States caused the scene here to explode with new sounds and ideas. This exhibit explains that impact on America and sheds new light on how it happened, and why." The exhibition will include several sections: Roots and influences of The GRAMMY Awards, The 1964 music invasion: The Mersey sound, The sound of London and taking America by storm. There will also be a selection of interviews with GRAMMY Award-winning artists.

The British Invasion: How 1960s beat groups conquered America will officially open on 16th October 2014
