All You Need Is Love: The first Beatles Story wedding
Lifelong Beatles fans Phil O’Connor and his new wife Julie, originally from Chester and Poulton-Le-Fylde, are the first couple to have a Beatles-themed wedding at the Beatles Story.
Their wedding took place at the Beatles Story, Albert Dock on the evening of Saturday August 8, 2015.
The couple chose to exchange their vows in the John Lennon white room and said there couldn't have been a more perfect setting for the ceremony.
The wedding reception later took place in the replica of the Cavern Club, reminding them of the place they got engaged.
Phil said: “We both grew up listening to Beatles music and we met thanks to a mutual connection with a Beatles tribute act. One night I proposed to Julie on the stage of the Cavern Club in Liverpool and the rest is history.”
The band who invited the couple on stage for the proposal, a resident Beatles tribute act at the Cavern, ‘Made in Liverpool’ also played on the wedding night.
Phil continued: “Our wedding was just fantastic and it meant a lot to us both to be able to get married at a venue which has such a special place in both our hearts. We were even more excited about the day when we heard we were the first couple to have been married at the amazing venue. We’d recommend it to any Beatles fans.”
Martin King, of the Beatles Story, said: “We were so pleased to welcome Phil and Julie for their special day here at the Beatles Story. Hopefully the first of many.”
It’s not the first time The Beatles have had a hand in marriage. Last May, during Macca’s concert in Liverpool, Beatles Story employee Diane McEvoy was invited on stage by Sir Paul and proposed to by her partner. Read more here.
