Frozen in time: Train station refurbishment reveals hidden surprises
Merseyrail's refurbishment team were shocked to find posters from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s when working at Hamilton Square train station in Birkenhead, Wirral.
Searching - Workers looked for 'The Beatles'
The posters were found when refurbishment workers were removing walls from platforms at the Birkenhead station. Shortly after the posters were found, local railway heritage historians were brought to the scene to examine and take photographs.

Merseyrail are now working together with Network Rail to preserve the many original posters.
Merseyrail refurbishment workers less recently stumbled across another poster from the 1960s. The poster found at Bidston train station caught the eye of Beatles fans as it was promoting a gig where The Beatles were performing.
