United in their mutual love of The Beatles, ‘The Global Beatles’ have Come Together from Canada, the UK, and the USA to perform at The Beatles Story this International Beatleweek. Expect a music-filled afternoon and enjoy the sounds of Merseybeat musician Mike Byrne and his band the Sunrockers!

Mike Byrne & the Sunrockers

Mike was born in Liverpool and has been a professional musician for almost 60 years. His first group was called ‘Mike & the Thunderbirds’ and Mike was a friend of Rory Storm and the Beatles at many lunchtime sessions. ‘Mike & the Thunderbirds’ made their Cavern debut on Saturday 22nd September 1962 just a month after the Beatles had replaced Pete Best with Ringo Starr. His first professional group was ‘Them Grimbles’ which took him to Germany and great experience. Mike finished the 60’s in ‘The Roadrunners’ as the group scene in Liverpool was dying out.

Martin Taylor has been a regular member of the Sunrockers for 15 years and shares Mike’s love of 50’s Rock ‘n’ Roll. Martin plays slap bass, Hofner Violin electric bass and adds vocal backing to the band. Martin toured Europe with his previous band the Rhythmaires and blues legend Jimmy Weatherspoon. Martin is a member of theatre shows Roy Orbison, Elvis, Patsy Cline etc.

Billy Rodd (Mike's 15 year old grandson) was born in Chorlton Cum Hardy and has been playing the drums since he was 6 years old. He was taught initially by, Ian ‘Budgie’ Jones and every Monday Billy takes part in ‘Rock Out’ at St Clements Church, Chorlton. He performed his first professional gig with the Sunrockers at ‘Ukraine Aid’ in Grassington Yorkshire this June which raised £11,500 for Ukraine!

The Global Beatles

Mark Allen has performed thousands of Beatles tribute shows in Florida and the US, and performed in the Beatles tribute at Disney's Epcot for 5 years. Currently Mark performs with 'Liverpool Live' - a Beatles tribute that has been voted the #1 tribute in Florida! Recently, 'Liverpool Live' was a headliner at 'Beatles on the Beach' in Delray Beach, Florida in December 2022. Mark has shared the stage with Edgar Winter, Mickey Dolenz, Joey Molland, Rare Earth and Peter Noone, and is a true entertainer whose performance with 'Liverpool Live' is a fun-entertaining experience. 

Tony Oldland was born to young parents that loved Sinatra, Elvis, and Skiffle. At age four his parents heard a new band called The Beatles. With music in his DNA, a young TonyO had his guitarist father teach him to play. Living in Canada, he was influenced by Rush and USA rock. Since the Fab Four always featured high on his play list, TonyO created two Beatles tribute bands. "The Beachles" for accurately reproducing their sound, and "DanceBeatles", playing danceable versions. TonyO also hosts "jam nights" where amateurs can go on stage to play with his band.

Adrian Fraser was born in London. After receiving a Beatles album from his mother at a young age, Adrian taught himself to sing their vocals and to play the songs on piano. He then learned guitar and bass, which helped him in the competitive London scene as a lead singer in several top tribute shows, R&B, funk and reggae acts. His solo work in casinos and large festivals continue to make him a London staple.

There will also be an opportunity for anyone who attends to get up and join in at the Beatle Jam Session! Bring your own instruments (drums and keyboard will be provided!)

The book is the story of their amazing and uniquely personal journey. They not only witnessed music history being made but they went on to build The Beatles Story.
