A new statue celebrating Liverpool-born singer and TV star Cilla Black was unveiled today, situated outside the Cavern Club on Mathew Street.
The bronze statue was commissioned by Cilla’s sons Robert, Ben and Jack and has been donated to the city in memory of their mum who passed away at her home in Spain in August 2015, aged 72.
The plaque under her feet reads "You’re My World", the title of one of her hit singles. Cilla had a total of eleven Top 10 UK singles before going on to become one Britain's most loved TV personalities.
The unveiling forms part of the Cavern Club’s 60th anniversary celebrations. Cilla worked as a cloakroom girl at the club before finding fame and fortune as a singer and TV star.
