John Hassall and Gary Powell, two members of English rock band The Libertines visited The Beatles Story today.
The duo arrived in Liverpool ahead of their performance at Wirral Live on Saturday, a festival taking place across three days at Tranmere Rovers Football Club stadium, Prenton Park.
John and Gary, who play bass and drums respectively in the notorious four-piece band are both huge Beatles fans. John’s new band, The April Rainers, released their debut album ‘Wheels To Idyll’ late last year and it is full of Beatles influence.
Speaking about The Beatles Story, John said: "I really enjoyed the exhibition. I came here when I was a kid with my Gran and it has changed a lot since then, but I suppose I’ve changed a lot too. It was a very different experience today."
Gary, who has just finished touring with The Specials, stated: "I liked the latter stage where it went into detail about each individual member and their solo careers".
The drummer also explained that The Libertines' band members have been doing their own thing recently and were needing to head back to the hotel for a "refresher", and to meet the "waylaid" Pete Doherty and Carl Barât.
According to Gary, the band are very much looking forward to spending time in the 'City of Music'. He said "I really like Liverpool, we first played here at the Zanzibar with the Bandits back in 2002 or 2003, and we always get a great reception from the fans here".
The Libertines join the likes of Madness, The Farm, The Coral, Little Mix and Conor Maynard performing at Wirral Live, to find out more click here.
