Himesh Patel, star of the new Yesterday movie, visited The Beatles Story this evening and performed songs from the upcoming film on the attraction’s replica Cavern Club stage.
Himesh was in Liverpool, the birthplace of the Beatles, as part of a special press junket for the forthcoming film, which is scheduled for release next month. Himesh performed his version of ‘Yesterday’, the title track of the film, in front of a crowded audience of invited international press and film crews.
Yesterday is an upcoming British comedy film directed by Danny Boyle and written by Richard Curtis. Himesh stars as Jack Malik, a struggling singer-songwriter who after an accident finds himself in another world where he is the only person who remembers The Beatles.
Finding himself in a very complicated position, Malik becomes famous by taking credit for writing and performing the songs of The Beatles and overnight becomes a musical sensation with a little help from his steel-hearted American agent, Debra.
But as his star rises, he risks losing Ellie — the one person who always believed in him. With the door between his old life and his new closing, Jack will need to get back to where he once belonged and prove that all you need is love.
Himesh visited The Beatles Story over a year ago, when he was preparing for the role, and when asked if he had a favourite Beatles song, said: "I don't have a favourite, there are so many to chose from so it changes everyday. Today it's 'Golden Slumbers', I've had it stuck in my head, it's a beautiful song."
Featuring new versions of The Beatles’ most beloved hits, Yesterday is set to be a must-see for Beatlemaniacs around the world. It has been produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner alongside Matthew James Wilkinson and Bernie Bellew. Lily James, Kate McKinnon, and Ed Sheeran also star alongside Patel in the film.
Yesterday the movie is scheduled to be released on 28th June 2019 by Universal Pictures, for more information please visit: yesterdaymovie.com
