Zonghan Li: Chinese actor visits The Beatles Story

James, Zonghan Li (李宗翰), one of the most famous actors and producers in China visited The Beatles Story last week, accompanied by a delegation from Branding Shanghai, Liverpool Film Office, and the Ambassador for Royal Warranted brands, Lady Penny Mountbatten. The group were in the Beatles’ birthplace of Liverpool to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the twinning of Liverpool and Shanghai.

It was the first time that James has visited Liverpool and The Beatles Story, an award-winning exhibition situated at the Royal Albert Dock on Liverpool’s UNESCO World Heritage waterfront. He enjoyed his tour of the world-class exhibition which takes visitors through an incredible journey of the Beatles, from their childhood in Liverpool to playing in Hamburg, recording in London, breaking America and conquering the world. James said: "I am so thrilled to visit The Beatles Story, The Beatles had unprecedented success in the world, so legendary!"

James took photos on the attraction’s replica Cavern Club stage during his tour and chose to sit at the drum kit because Ringo Starr is his favourite. He said: "Ringo is very cute and humble." Later, when asked if he had a favourite Fab Four song, he said thoughtfully: "It depends on my mood, I love ‘Imagine’, I could listen to that song on loop all day, however, I also love ‘Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band’ and ‘Yellow Submarine’."

Talking about the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the twinning two cities, as the Branding Shanghai ambassador, James said: "I am looking forward to this trip, Liverpool is a stunning city, the local people are very friendly, and the city is so historical!" The UK-China co-produced film by Clipper Media Capital & Arca Pictures (Branding Shanghai) will be filmed and set between Liverpool and Shanghai. Dave Fu, managing partner of Branding Shanghai announced the exciting news: "The film will be a romantic comedy based in Shanghai and Liverpool to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the twinning of Shanghai and Liverpool. We really wanted to visit Liverpool to inspire the co-production film idea."

The Beatles Story was the first destination James and the delegation decided to visit in Liverpool, they also visited tourist attractions such as Mersey Ferries and Liverpool Football Club's Anfield Stadium.

James is an influential Chinese TV actor and producer; He won the Chinese American Film Festival - Newly Improved Actor in 2013 and the 6th Huading Award for Favourite Star in 2011. He is the main actor in several popular Chinese TV series, such as “Mr Right” (2018), “Year of Passion” (2018), and “Special Forces Behind the Enemy Line” (2018).

In addition to James, the ‘King of Asian Pop’ Jay Chou and his wife Hannah Quinlivan also visited The Beatles Story recently, their photos outside of The Beatles Story’s main entrance created a Chinese social media furore.

China is an important market for The Beatles Story, with a growing number of Chinese tourists visiting the exhibition and becoming the most prominent Asian market in 2018/19. To accommodate visitors from these territories the attraction provides multimedia guides in both Mandarin and Cantonese, alongside ten other international languages.
