The Beatles Story voted one of the Best Family Friendly Experiences in UK & Ireland

Further to The Beatles Story’s recent nomination for Get Your Guide’s ‘Best Family Friendly Experience’, the world’s largest permanent exhibition dedicated to the Fab Four from Liverpool has been crowned among the top 5 destinations in the UK and Ireland.

The awards celebrate the local experiences sparking the travel and tourism industry’s comeback following the recent closures due to coronavirus.

GetYourGuide’s network of destination experts nominated the best local experiences in the United Kingdom and Ireland in dozens of locations across three categories. To decide who won, GetYourGuide turned to the local travel community. They voted on the nominations and crowned the top five from each category as winners of the 2020 GetYourGuide Awards.

The voting took place from 19 to 29 August, with more than 2,800 travellers in the UK and Ireland voting for their favourite experiences.

Mary Chadwick, General Manager said: “It’s fantastic to receive yet another award for our growing collection and this is one that was voted for by our devoted customers and the travel community, so it’s a great accolade for the company and all the hard work that the team are doing.”

The Beatles Story features an interactive family-friendly Discovery Zone, which includes a giant piano and new for 2020, a kid’s Cavern karaoke stage, as well as plenty of educational resources available both online and in the exhibition.

The award comes in the attraction’s 30th anniversary year and just one month ahead of the upcoming celebrations on what would have been John Lennon’s 80th Birthday on 9th October 2020. The Beatles Story has a very special exhibition lined up, featuring items from John’s collection which have never previously been on public display.

Get Back: The rare Harrison guitar returns

The rare Australian Maton MS-500 Mastersound electronic guitar, which recently sold at auction for almost half a million dollars (£312,000), has returned on loan to the Beatles Story.

It is thought that Harrison had borrowed the guitar from Barratt's music shop in Manchester while his legendary Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar was being repaired. It was played only a small number of times during ...self-willed and selfish women who surrounded John as he grew up.
