The Beatles Story Earns Silver Award for Sustainability from Green Tourism

The Beatles Story Museum at Liverpool’s historic Royal Albert Dock has been recognised with a Silver award from Green Tourism, marking a significant milestone in the attraction’s sustainability journey.

This recognition follows the museum’s second GreenCheck assessment, where it achieved an impressive 76% rating. The result reflects ongoing progress towards ambitious environmental goals, including helping to maintain and preserve natural resources within the community, and actively reducing waste.

Driving this progress is a passionate team effort, including the museum’s internal sustainability group, the ‘Green Meanies,’ whose work continues to shape a more environmentally responsible future for the attraction.

Green Tourism is a leading certification programme that champions sustainable practices across the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

With this latest achievement under its belt, The Beatles Story is setting its sights on the Gold award in 2026 and reinforcing its long-term commitment to positive environmental impact.

Mary Chadwick, General Manager at The Beatles Story, said: “The Beatles said ‘it’s getting better all the time’ and that’s certainly the case here at The Beatles Story! This Silver award is a great step forward on our sustainability journey. I’m incredibly proud of our team for driving this progress and helping secure not only this meaningful achievement, but also a greener future for our attraction.”

Green Tourism added: “The Beatles Story have done an excellent job in achieving the Silver award following on from their GreenCheck. The areas they are strong in are Communication, Health & Wellbeing, and Travel. The group have created some excellent tips and initiatives to engage with visitors, and the site makes sure these are on display throughout to encourage visitor participation. I am sure over the next 12 months the site will only continue to increase their score.”
