Number One Hit: Boxer Vijender Singh visits the Beatles Story
An Indian boxer gearing up for his first bout in Liverpool revealed he is a huge Beatles fan and headed straight to The Beatles Story after a press conference in the city.
Vijender Singh even wore a Beatles Story t-shirt at the Liverpool Hilton as sparks flew between WBO World Lightweight Champion Terry Flanagan and rival Derry Matthews ahead of their world title fight on February 13th.
Olympic bronze medallist Vijender, from Gurgaon, a city 32 kilometres south-west of New Delhi, is on the same bill and as yet fighting an unnamed opponent.
But after the tensions over the big fight eased Vijender decided to relax by taking a nostalgic trip through the history of the Fab Four at The Beatles Story at Albert Dock.
The attraction was recently voted as the best attraction in the North and Scotland in the UK at the Worldwide Attraction Awards, putting them in the same league as the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and Magic Kingdom.
Fan Vijender said: "I've loved The Beatles for many years – their reach is global.
"It's hard to go anywhere and find people who don't know the band.
"This is my first time in Liverpool and it's great to visit the Beatles Story and learn more about my musical heroes.
"I'm looking forward to returning to the city and hope as many fans as possible come and join me at the fight in February."
Martin King of The Beatles Story, said: "It has been great to welcome Vijender to the Beatles Story following his press conference in the city.
"We're glad he enjoyed his time at the attraction and we wish him the best of luck ahead of his fight from everyone here at The Beatles Story."
